The NCCR TransCure is an interdisciplinary Swiss-wide research network of academic research groups of the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (IBMM). The IBMM currently has 48% female employees and master students. The number looks promising, but there is still a long way ahead of us. At NCCR TransCure, we continue to work on improving and maintaining equality at all levels, especially implementing measures that facilitate increasing the number of women working in the field of membrane transport.
We are specifically focusing on the personal support of young female researchers interested in growing a scientific career and increase the awareness of equal opportunities in a number of ways:
- We ensure equal opportunities in recruitment and we particularly encourage female scientists to apply for NCCR TransCure positions.
- Mentoring is provided to female researchers who are interested in pursuing scientific career.
- Different annual soft skill workshops as well as an annual symposium are organized to encourage NCCR staff to interact with outstanding women in science as professional career and role models.
