ABCG2 is a multidrug transporter with important physiological roles in many tissues. It limits the oral bioavailability of drugs and extrudes anti-tumour drugs in cancer cells. Despite its clinical importance the mechanism of ABCG2 is poorly understood. The collaborative goal of my Postdoc is to understand the structural basis of substrate transport and inhibition. Structural and functional investigations are being aided by the generation of synthetic compounds and protein binders.
